i’ve a friend who’s afraid of fat people too..
had some childhood ‘trauma’. i think it’s okay.. there’s nothing wrong.

fat people are gross… being fat is gross. i dont blame you. i will never be fat. if i get fat i would rather kill myself or drink myself away…. you are alright. and that person who said that disgusts you is obvously fat so fuck them.

i think fat people look gross. i know it’s superficial, and horrible to say, but they just do not look good. i know lots of fat people, obviously, and i like a lot of them as people, but i would never in a million years want to look like them.

People are afraid of all kinds of stupid things. Unreasonable fears are the hallmark of the human race and are a major reason why we have such a hard time progressing beyond our backward prejudicial tendencies. For the most part people who fear fat people fear them because of stupid medieval religious dogma based upon the seven deadly sins. The fear of fat is steeped in the idea that fat people are evil sinners who partake in gluttony. This medieval way of thinking has permeated our cultural attitude because of ignorance and fear of losing the immortal soul through sin. Culturally, because we view fat people as morally challenged, we view them as ugly, disgusting, smelly and abhorrent. We may rationalize this fear by latching onto the more modern concepts of fatness and its correlation with health consequences but in reality it is a smoke screen for religious based prejudice. Fortunately modern medical science is making headway in its effort to combat these prejudices and as enlightened people now understand, fatness or obesity is a disease and not a moral failing. Unfortunately a large segment of our population still doesn’t get the truth of the matter and still behaves like little more than primitives who fear the dark.

As an overweight person, I can tell you that it’s okay. We are all afraid of what we don’t want to become.

Also, in my opinion, I think that being fat shows a slight weakness in character – That’s my only problem with fat people. It shows that greed has become a part of modern culture and I don’t think I could be happy being fat when I know that some people in the world are starving. It sounds stupid, but that’s honestly how i feel. I have no problem with people who are overweight – they can be really nice. But i could never fully respect someone who is fat because I don’t think that it’s healthy. Why should I think that something unhealthy is okay? Obviously, I let people get on with their lives and it really doesn’t bother me that much but when i think about it .. I do link people who are fat with greed. I know people will respond with comments like “People can’t help it .. It’s not their fault” – and for some that is so true and that’s not what I’m talking about. But lots of people can do more hence concluding that it is a weakness is character not to. Peace.

I also have an irrational fear of huge people.. not fat people but the huge obese ones… I don’t know why are I have to deal with everyday working in retail.. I wish I didn’t but I just can’t help it
