you don’t have to be rude just because you don’t want to hear what they want to share a message with you. that message could potentially change your life, even if you think that your life is saved without religion. i’m LDS & understand that you may not want someone interrupting your day with a knock on the door, but if you don’t want to hear what they have to say – then just say no thank you. there’s no need to say that you think about killing them, that’s sad.

hey, i’m what some people would call religious, but i understand how you feel. That’s why i don’t do the whole door to door thing. But i do believe they’re doing what they believe to be right and something courageous, in that they know exactly how much you resent them knocking. Just share what you believe or don’t, open their minds and let yours be opened.

Anyway, Raydean! glad you accepted it, and learned it wasn’t just a cult thing. I’m not sure exactly how LDS got villainized, really.. Maybe some weird off-shoot group.. But, you can’t really count those, now can you? Minority doesn’t count for anything, now does it?
It’s true that it religion helps a lot of people, I often wish I could have the faith of some of the people I have met. Saying that, turning up on someones doorstep and pestering them to change their/take on your ideals is an invasion of privacy. I am sure that most people are intelligent enough to find out about religions that they are interested in on their own terms without having their free time at home interrupted by strangers. One person interested in converting my family (I won’t say what to) came to my house in the remote English countryside. My mother was out in the garden doing some gardening. My sister was in our bottom garden playing. When my mum took the path to the bottom garden, this man had let himself in through the gate, taken my sister on his lap and was trying to get her to listen to his opinion. My sister was 8 years old.
Now, I will always turn people away from my door, no matter what religion. I am happy going to Church occasionally with my family as I always have. If I feel the need to change my religious views, I’m big enough and old enough to do it my way.
This secret breaks my heart. My older brother has been in Sweden for 2 years knocking on those doors.
I feel sick, knowing there are people who may have those same thoughts for him.

He is giving up two years of his life to help spread the peace and knowledge he has found in our religion

Can I point out that before the noosphere, our ancestors lived fine on their own? Animals today live fine without “God” or “Ala”. They continue to live normal and NATURAL lives without any complications. Because humans have such large IQ’s, we can process many things which also leaves room for lots of doubt. So it’s completely normal to try and come up with theories that help us cope with our fears, but it’s simply not logical. Religion is the start of so many wars and I realize that it does in fact help many people through hard times, but all the same, it’s not logical.
Plus, more than one religion states that if you are not a follower of their own beliefs, you will go to hell. And since we can assume that no one has more than one religion, we can assume that we all are in fact going to hell.
Wasn’t this site made to let people express and share their DEEPEST and DARKEST secrets that they are most likely ashamed of? How dare you try and accuse someone of such a horrible deed while you yourself are committing just as bad of a sin. Tu quoque.
And while you claim that “religious people” are harboring a message of peace and love, why are there so many lives lost over simple disputes of beliefs? Religion is just another reason for people to fight and in this day and age, we need to now more than ever come together and settle our differences. But in a way that does not try to control another’s thoughts. You are trying to alienate this person by stating that their thoughts are not humane and if they truly were not humane, they would not be humanly possible to be thought of.

Because people are always too polite to ask them to stop coming, or explaining that they are not interested in what the missionaries are preaching.

I am glad that there are young people out there who are doing something other than getting drunk and being obnoxious. I understand that its uncomfortable..here’s a secret, tell them you aren’t interested and to put your address in their area book as a DO NOT RETURN. Yep, I knocked on doors for 18 months. At least we were LIVING our beliefs, instead of espousing them and doing whatever the hell we wanted.
Next time they knock tell them: we worship satan in this home.
My husband and I work long weeks…only quality time we have together with our son as a family is Saturday morning. Saturday …cooking breakfast…listening to some nice chill music…laughing..Ten thirty sharp…the doorbell rings. I answer…listen to their introduction and replied with ‘we worship satan’. This was after weeks..same time every Sat telling them ‘we are not interested’. They did not come back for three months. And when they did…I was told that I was selfish for not opening my heart to the ‘word’ and choosing to spend time with my family that Saturday morning instead of listening to another interpretation of the Bible. It is infuriating on mine and my family’s behalf as well as infuriating that this brainwashing continues and these people are so convinced that I am damned. How sad.
Do you know anything about missionaries at all? They are all 19 year old boys who give up two years of their lives! No school, no facebook, no internet. My best friend is in Chile right now. In the two years that he will be gone he could be through two years of school. But he decided that he wanted to go on a mission and saved up HIS money to go. YOU and anyone else who judge the mormons DO NOT know them. If your going to wish someone in the world to be rid of it should be people like you.

Women go out for 18 months when they are 21 years old, if they CHOOSE. They are not married. Nobody forces them into anything. They use their own money and choose to give up their time. Younger missionaries are NOT married, although older couples have the option to go if their children are grown. Nobody is FORCED to do anything.

Everyone needs religion or God in there life you are not saved just by believing. You have to repent and be baptized and persevere to the end. The problem comes when man thinks he is better than God or smarter than God. Guess what! We are not God so lets not play God. Humans and animals can live because God created us so that we would be able to survive. We have brought everything upon our shelve. God loves you and I love you too.
