I did the same thing after my mom left for Afghanistan, I kept her room closed to keep it smelling like her and would hug her pillow because it felt like I was hugging her.

i never met my dads dad, but last night at my grandmothers house i put on my grandfathers air force coat from the war…i put my hand in the pockets wondering what he had put there years before.

I do something similar! Every once in a while I open a box of my grandmother’s old coats and sweaters. They still smell like her perfume and it makes me feel like she’s standing right behind me, smiling.
